About East Hills
East Hills incorporated in 1931. Clarence and Katherine Mackay settled here in 1898 and had Stanford White design Harbor Hill; the mansion is gone, but the Gate Lodge, Water Tower and Dairyman's Cottage were listed on the National Register in 1991. The Park at East Hills opened in 2006 on the former Roslyn Air National Guard Station. Northern Boulevard forms the village's northern edge and the Northern State Parkway its southern edge.
East Hills Garages
- Two- and three-car garages with wide, insulated or custom doors.
- Heavy doors that need springs sized to their real weight.
- High or finished ceilings — a wall-mount opener keeps them clear.
- Long driveways, where a keypad or phone control helps.

Two Kinds of East Hills Garage
In the post-war sections, the garages are the familiar one- and two-car attached kind, with doors that have usually been replaced once. In the larger-lot subdivisions, garages are bigger and doors heavier — often insulated, sometimes wood, sometimes custom sizes. Both need the same thing from a spring: the right size for the door it lifts.
Openers for Heavy Doors
A heavy door on undersized springs makes even a good opener struggle. We fix the balance first, then match the opener. For tall or heavy doors and finished ceilings, the wall-mount LiftMaster 8500W or 98022 drives the torsion shaft directly and keeps the ceiling clear. A battery backup (from $119) keeps the garage usable in an outage.
